In Compose, a shot accumulates Frames (stills). In Dailies, the same shot accumulates (videos). Each take is a different version of the same directorial unit. One is the . The rest are alternates. The inspector shifts to match. Where Compose surfaced Shot Essentials (size, framing, angle, DOF, perspective), Dailies surfaces the motion fields:
Shot Direction: the action of the take in prose. Inherits from the Compose shot’s action by default.
Cast in Frame: same as Compose. Toggleable per take.
Motion Camera: how the camera itself moves through the shot. Push, pull, pan, hold.
Motion Direction: what the subjects are doing. The performance, not the framing.
Dialogue: per-take spoken lines. Pulled from the script if attached, or written directly.
The static decisions you made in Compose travel forward unchanged. Dailies layers what moves on top of what’s framed. Generate a Take, get a video. Generate again with new direction, get a new Take of the same shot. Pick the one that lands. That one becomes Active.
